My absolute favorite dish was the sizzling filet mignon skillet!!!! You know when you see another table order a fajita and you wish you ordered that too? Well don't be that person and make sure that's the first thing you get when you visit Mama Lu's. The juicy pork dumplings are done very well here too! The ones in the steamer dish has the pop of soup and the ones in the plate were similar and more filled. I really like dunking and drowning all the dumplings in a soy sauce, red vinegar, and chili oil mix. I actually prep that to eat with everything I order from here. The eggs and shrimp and the e-fu lobster noodles could have had more flavor. I wish the lobster had more seasoning such as garlic or black pepper, but overall tasted better when you added the sauce mixture. The spicy wontons with pork and shrimp were schizuan a 3/5 level of spicy. If you're not a fan of a little numbing of the tongue, then the juicy pork dumplings might be a better choice! Since I have a high spice tolerance, I really liked it. They also added peanuts which I think is a great textural add! Overall, great place to eat with friends a la carte, but I'd come alone just for the filet mignon skillet. The beef was extremely tender and melted in your mouth. I adore the service. The owner (I'm assuming) is an older man who is so attentive and constantly made sure everything was to our liking. Great addition to Chinatown!!

Having Mama Lu's 5 min away is seriously dangerous! This is one of our fav spots for Chinese spots and for good reason. The food is always delicious and they serve generous portions. This time we ordered the lobster noodles, shrimp with scrambled egg, shrimp, napa, & pork dumplings, spicy wontons, juicy pork dumplings, and sizzling filet mignon with black pepper sauce. Top favs of the night def have to be the lobster noodles, the sizzling plate, and the spicy wontons which always hit. Service was quick and friendly as usual.

What an incredible meal! Mama Lu's never disappoints and will leave you 100% satisfied. Every bite was a wow with bursts of flavors. I loved everything that we ordered and it's definitely a place that I like coming back to. The service was great! The kind hospitality of the staff and a warm welcome really made me feel at home. The ambience is definitely a place where you take family and friends to celebrate any occasion. It was a friendly environment and conducive to knowing that you will be pleased with your meal.

Loved checking out this Mama Lus location. Now I think I've been to 5 of them! As a frequent visitor I'd recommend everyone to try their pork soup dumplings, the spicy wontons, house seaweed fish, sizzlin filet mignon with black pepper sauce, mapo tofu, and fried mantou. This amazing chinese restaurant is always consistently delicious and surprises me every visit. The workers and service here was A+++. This location/building here is actually very special and nostalgic for me because i used to visit as a kid for family gatherings! Glad theres one closer for my relatives & chinatown friends to get access to.

I've been to the location in 626 and was pleasantly surprised to find that another location closer to central LA exists - and with free lot parking! So naturally Mama Lu's is the place my party of 3 chose to go for some good-value, good-taste Chinese dim sum following a Saturday morning hike. We arrived around 11 and there were a few spots available in the lot and no wait for a table. We walked in to a semi decorated, Chinese banquet-esque large and lit room which smelled as a good Chinese restaurant should (but also with good ventilation!) We did have to wait a little for service in between ordering from the dim sum cart and menu items but it just made us anticipate the meal more! We ordered a plentiful amount: - beef and shrimp cheung fen: these were probably the least yummy item we had. the sauce drizzled on top could have been a bit more generous and the beef cheung fen in particular was surprisingly lacking flavor - har gao: good juicy shrimp inside but the rice wrapper was too thick - shumai: delicious, meaty, and plump! these were a yummy staple - xiao long bao: unfortunately the bao were placed a bit too close together on the steamer rack, so when we chopsticked one to eat it was a little stuck to its neighbor and ripped, spilling out the soup :( but the flavor and quality was good, both of the dough and filling, and the ginger vinegar dipping sauce good - sauteed green beans: our favorite dish collectively, the large portion of crispy seasoned beans was yummy and inspires you to keep eating! - cocktail bao: just okay, but custardy and a good take-home leftover for the next day's breakfast - beef chow fun: very yummy with good portions of all ingredients and some wok hei. I enjoyed the crisp bean sprouts and tender beef - turnip cake: yummy flavor with bits of meat and crispy exterior. it did taste a little starchy so maybe having a little more turnip and a little less cornstarch would be desirable Overall I was particularly pleased with the location, parking, and price of this Mama Lu's, as well as the green beans. the dimsum were overall good although each could have used a bit of improvement, and the service was classically and authentically Chinese which is part of the experience (although they did do a good job refilling waters and tea). a good brunch that left us full for hours!

The food here is super tasty! The glazed pork chop was flavorful and a big portion. The crispy tofu was crispy and full of flavor. We also ordered the dumplings and xiaolong bao which were a hit. There are a variety of dishes to order. It was great to share. There is a combination of dim sum and regular dishes so everyone can find something to eat. I like how there is a big free parking lot to the side of the restaurant. The service was decent and the waiter came quickly to order the food. The food also came very quickly.

This is probably my favorite Mama Lu location. Occupying former "CBS Seafood" space, Mama Lu's new Chinatown spot has a large (FREE) parking lot, a spacious elegant dining room, and a takeout-only counter (dim sum and hot foods). The food quality is pleasantly consistent at all the Mama Lu's in LA and OC. I have visited them all and have not had a bad meal. Last night ordered beef wraps and garlic on-choy takeout, both excellent; a few days ago ordered steamed bass (under $20!) -- so meaty, flakey and fresh, lightly sauced and oiled. Moreover, this Mama Lu sells bags of frozen dumplings (50pcs XLB for $29, what a deal)

Guaranteed delicious traditional and trending Chinese Food. Mama Lu's Restaurant in Chinatown LA is at the heart of it all. They are more than a dumpling house, come check out their deliciousness! What did we feast on? - Hot & Sour Soup - Juicy Pork Steamed Dumplings (XLBs) - Pan Fried Pork Potstickers - Pancake Beef Roll - Beef Braised Noodle Soup - French Style Beef - Half Roast Duck - Chili Oil Crunch is Service is prompt and friendly! Love the main waitress, she always has a smile and loves to chi chat . Owner is behind cash register who looks a bit intimidating but is a softie at heart. Get to know him and let him know you, he treated me to some treats when I ordered takeout. ( Secret Menu Special: $20.99 Lobster Ginger Scallion Noodle. It's , love it and such a great price! ) Ambiance is an old skool Chinese Restaurant which we all remember growing up and loving. During the day, there are dim sum carts galore. The best part, they still serve you tea in those iron pots! There are streams of new generation Asian American who grew up eating at Chinese spots like it, Non-Asians who definitely was brought by their Asian friends and now know how to order and eat, Ederly Chinatown residents who loved this corner for years overall!
